Probes must be adapted to the shape and to the nature of the checked object. Impendance measurement quality strongly depend of this tool. To limit errors due to mutual inductance between wires and interferences between signals (especially for strong and low impedances), measuring cell uses a configuration of four coaxial connections. It's connected to the impedance analyzer with the shortest possible cables and it wears two kinds of electrode, composed each of a central wire for measurement and one other connected to cable shielding. By this way, it's possible to prevent stray capacities due to edges effects. |
Impedance analyzer uses a self-balanced bridge to determine complex impedance Z or dielectric properties of materials. The sample is excited by an AC current source and the voltage U is measured on its terminals. Knowing the current I going through the sample, its impedance can be calculated z=U/I. Impedance spectroscopy is a linear method because the signals U and I have same frequency, but they have not the same phase. | ![]() |
